Hello everyone,
Following the latest governance proposal posted, I want to write a transparent statement to the community on behalf of the current team.
First of all, every current contributor was selected by Seb. Team composition has never been a DAO vote process, for a simple reason: most holders do not have the technical expertise to accurately evaluate whether one developer, trader, or engineer is more capable than another. In crypto, it is extremely easy to manipulate communities with narratives, fake credentials, inflated off-chain metrics, and self-proclaimed “geniuses.”
This space is full of serial grifters pretending to be heroes.
Do not trust. Verify.
And in crypto, the only thing that can truly be verified is on-chain data.
1/ Context behind the current initiative
A little more than two months ago, Sam — the orchestrator of this entire initiative — contacted me regarding a proposal to replace some current contributors with members from Mobula.
He specifically wanted me to interview Sacha, whom he described as a “21-year-old genius” and “the next Vitalik.” He also told me that I was overestimating Crumbs too much, and he explained that the short-term plan was for Sacha to eventually replace him.
I wasn't in favor but I was open to have a call with Sacha, exactly like any interview process we could conduct with a potential contributor.
During the conversation, Sacha explained that he had worked on Mobula and Hawk.trade, spent 6 years in the blockchain space, and had recently integrated Lighter.
I asked him whether he had ever worked on or researched MEV. To my surprise, he answered no, although he said he planned to look into it later. For someone supposedly building in the blockchain space for more than six years, this was surprising. MEV makes you understand how the blockchain truly works.
I then asked a very basic question regarding Lighter trading latency differences between taker/maker execution and premium/non-premium routing. He could not answer it, despite supposedly integrating their entire API stack.
We also discussed cross-margin multi-perp design architecture, and again he did not appear to understand many of the core subtleties involved.
At the end of the discussion, I was honestly not impressed.
The way Sam presented him to me as some exceptional talent was completely disconnected from what I observed technically.
From my perspective, he was nowhere near Crumbs in terms of smart contract engineering, trading infrastructure understanding, or trading knowledge in general.
Interestingly, Sacha recently updated his bio claiming he has built HFT trading infrastructure.
Once Sam realized I would not support his proposal, there’s been silence. Only this week, he began approaching another contributor instead, Joseph, and insisted the team should absolutely not be informed about this newly formed proposal. Less than 48 hours later they posted it, on a Friday late night (our time); not allowing team to be prepared with a response that something like this deserves immediately.
